Shadow Puppet workshop in association with Storybasket

by MeeraMayaa February 6, 2022
written by MeeraMayaa

A #puzzle to #solve
It follows you everywhere, it does whatever action you perform.
Well, we know that you guessed it right.
It’s our Shadow.

Will shadow share a story?
It does!
The story you create is what is replicated exactly by a shadow.

Were you someone who stopped playing with shadows in your childhood, it was not only the shadow, it was with Light too. Maybe something from Physics would have spoken to you then, and you parked it rusting in the childhood itself ?

It continues
Whether in school or college, it continues everywhere.

Even in the #Corporate for that matter.
As a Leader or as a team what kind of shadows are you creating?
Something as tall as Giraffe or small as an ant.

Play with your hands and light, it will help you solve so many things in your organization. You may never know that the neurons in your mind gets activated when you play with shadows and light.

Inviting you all for a Shadow puppet show by Storybasket an initiative run by Ms.Meera Vishwanath in collaboration with #Mayaakathawherestoriesdance ( https://lnkd.in/gsf2fdpF )

A #threeday #workshop exploring #shadowplay

It’s 8/20

by MeeraMayaa October 12, 2021
written by MeeraMayaa

She came jumping and was brimming with spark in her eyes and smiling ear to ear and she said

Amma..

Amma..

Ammmmmmaaa….

Would you like to know what did my child say? Well, she was excited that she scored 8/20 in her online-objective exam. I smiled for the fact that she scored more than me, because I scored beautiful Zeroes and maybe managed to scrape through with 1 or 2 marks, it was a constant number out of 10 / 15/ 20/ 25.. As a child I never knew what these scores were, but Yes, I knew that my friends and their parents laughed looking at this score, and I thought they were happy with my score. I remember how my Amma and Appa stood during those situations, I am thankful to them for being that way! They smiled and hugged me and said, it’s okay “Give us those marks card, it’s precious and let us keep it in the almirah!”

To this day I smile about what they said and did and a happy state I pull within myself, I would say a ‘Resourceful state’. To cut the flash-back story short, I studied 1st grade again and when all my friends were in 2nd, I was confused why they moved on. I remember Appa mentioning that, “Chikli (that’s how they called me), let old friends go, come let’s meet new friends and maybe you can teach them.” I never knew the meaning then, but, I trusted in my parent’s words and happily finished 1st, 2nd grades in one-go there after and somehow manage to remember even now on what I studied then with the same enthusiasm I went to school.

As am sharing this, I wish to draw you close to LOVE & ANGER..

How important it is to channelize on these two energies?

One mends and the other breaks.

I wanted to mend and that’s what I did when my minion came running to me about her 8/20 score.

I smiled ear to ear and the zest in me had no bounds, it just went dancing like those happy clouds in the sky. We both danced and we have named it #Jumpingbeans.

She was puzzled for sometime, because, she heard her friends screaming their heart out (in real sense, parents were in their effervescent mood) 20/20, 18/20 , 19/20…. She asked me, “What is this amma, why didn’t they score like me?” I didn’t know what I should, for sometime I was worried about the rat race I have put her into and the next moment, I told myself, Let the Rat decide it, if it wants to run or create cannels underneath or just be in it’s meditative state, pause and enjoy the beauty around.

I smiled at her and said, “This is your marks and that is their marks, what you got is what you attempted and how beautiful it is see you happy with your marks and I am excited to celebrate.” She after sometime said, “Amma, I didn’t know few answers I think there’s an option to correct it!”

That’s it, I felt that the need is met.

As Parents, Teachers or care-givers, when we give education, are we intending to give them experience or thrust knowledge in their super-conscious mind?

What is that we can focus on, may be this may not be the exact thing. What I am sharing is from experience and not knowledge, because to me the knowledge factor comes in various sizes and quantity and it varies basis person, situation and all stringed to memory, which is all about pulling the dead or trying to give life to something basis others.

  1. Let the Spontaneous river flow.. The child’s power centre, i.e the Super Conscious mind is active and it is aware about the fact that, they are being sent to school and thumb-rule is that they should read…The thought is already set and what they are doing is in their own natural spontaneous way they are learning things around them, which could be a playway method. And, they are excited about whatever they do and it is the best what they deliver. The best gift would be to jump and celebrate on their findings or accomplishments.
  2. Problem solving: The don’t what problems are until or unless we tell them so. From 6, they kind of build to look at things to solve or understand what it is, it is an exploration stage and as a Care-giver or Parents or Grand parents, rather than preparing them for solving we should allow the Little Scientists to explore. It is at this stage that we try to mold them or force them to solve than understanding them that they are solving in their own space and pace.
  3. They can feel shame and guilt, their marks or not scoring as per the syllabus needs or y-(our) needs shouldn’t make them cringe or feel ashamed. This would be the beginning of them hiding things from us, because they feel whatever they do will be made fun of or criticized….

Some more points and thoughts on your way in the next post, until then keep scoring Zero or 8/20….

If you are wondering why we fear about the marks, maybe it’s because of the Raven on the Eagle, grab a read and you may connect with few points on why we rush through

Stories in Oasis

Illustrating Stories – Ep. 1 – How it all started?

by MeeraMayaa June 24, 2021
written by MeeraMayaa
When we speak about stories, what comes to your mind?
Is it the plot, background element, visual depiction, the feel, the auditory part, or the Storyteller? Maybe, you might have thought about the Science or the Artistic part in Stories too. We can call it, the Art or the Science of Storytelling. Why do we share stories? Is there a purpose or a compulsory need to share stories?

The little neurons in my mind have been asking such questions and here am starting a series to write a series on, ‘Storytelling.’ I have always wondered why am drawn towards this domain. It all started when I had a tiff with my Coach and Mentor when he mentioned, why I am telling stories and why I am not sharing the facts instead? This thought irked me and it slapped each and every cell in my body and shook the DNA, in fact, I felt that my DNA lost its helix structure and it uncoiled itself to a flat lifeless string. I picked on a one-on-one with my Mentor, Mr.Ramesh Prasad, NLP Trainer-Onefluencer  https://onefluencer.com/ , and asked him, “What is wrong with me or for that fact if anyone shares stories?” Well, there was a silence and then this silence opened a space in my mind to create a page 3 years back and today a series called, ‘Stories in Oasis.” Stories in Oasis is all about Stories and what it means to me.

Stories have been flowing for generations and ages just like a river to meet its Ocean. In this series, basis my understanding and experiences of experiencing and learning, I would be quilling few weaves starting with the structure of storytelling, what stories mean to me, how I relate with the same. There is no right or wrong and there is no exact or rigid structure. Just like a river that doesn’t have an exact structure but it does have a pattern and how it breaks the same as well, stories travel a path in a pattern which is not only about leaving a message called, ‘Moral of the story,’ but on what makes the flow beautiful, interesting and how it makes us wondering and seated till the end showcasing the outcome!

What and all get’s into the structure, is it the Root, Trunk, and the branches or loads more to the Tree of Storytelling?

Will be back with the next story soon!

And Mayaakatha is planning more.
Yes, loads more in the kitty, we had Poetry connect for April month, a mixed bag of stories for May and now we are featuring Healing stories as a part of #365daysofStorytellinginMayaakatha for June 2021.

Here’s the link to the YouTube channel and Facebook page.

And for July 2021, we plan to feature Lockdown-melodies.  A date with the Vessels, a medley with the laundry clothes, or a break-dance with the broom and mop stick. You heard it right, tickle all your neurons, and allow your DNA to weave some personal stories or the one you enjoyed listening to, with due courtesy to the story owner.

Don’t you wait, nor scratch your head!
Just write/ share your story videos to storieswithmayaakatha@gmail.com along with your profile brief and story credit details.

Words from the Womb

by MeeraMayaa January 8, 2021
written by MeeraMayaa
A dark world
A beautiful world
Where I can only hear your voice
But why were you crying all the time?
I didn’t know with what name to call you
Or how to call you!
I was told by God,
that you are my God!
I asked God,
“But why am I unable to see her face?”
And, “She, the almighty,” said,
“Dear, Child
You are in her womb!”
I waited just like her to push myself out.
I realized that my push was hard and
heard someone crying for her life!
Oh!
It’s my God, my Mother who was crying.
I cried too and said,
“Amma don’t cry.”
But she couldn’t hear me
Yes, I was traveling not only outside of her
but towards an unknown destination.
Neither she knows nor…
I waited day and night to hold her hand,
days went on to weeks,
weeks to months
and months to years!
Here am in this orphanage,
Waiting to see her!
Again, I was told
There’s another God who plans to take me to her Home!
I didn’t have a choice that day, nor do I, today!
But the God who spoke to me when
I was in the womb, always knew what is best for me!
One chill breeze caressed my hair
And a peck on my forehead!
And I met her today!
Dear, Mother
Maybe I haven’t met you or
never I will,
But my search will always be there to say,
“Dear, Mother Happy Mother’s and thanks for bringing me into this world!”
