Where to start?
How to start?
Should I start?
Why should I in the first place start?
Is it a similar situation we face when our vehicles fail to start during the winter times? Do we continue putting in our efforts or allow the damn engine to choke to breathe?
It does start, maybe, after a few kick start and I somehow feel this enables in the thawing process and the engine blinks a relief!
And rest is the Story!
Oh!
This is exactly what happens when we want to share a story. In a normal and in our comfortable situation, we just flow like a river comfortably sharing stories to the folks around us, and here I feel it doesn’t require too much planning or organizing a task. I feel that it is because of the fact that we picture the outcome in our mind with ease when we are around with our folks.
What if, if we have to share a story with an unknown audience or a community?
This I would typically call it, a winter vehicle situation.
The situation is that that we have to share a story or an experience. At this place, “Need-analysis” plays an important role.
The need analysis helps us with the following aspects:
The purpose of the story and its effect on the audience.
(It could be for example, like the Photosynthesis concept in a science class or preparing for a Sales PPT for a meeting in the office. Why we need to know about Photosynthesis or how a Sales report helps in understanding a fact)
What kind of a story and why this story?
(Whether introducing an audio mode or streaming visual images while connecting, this is possible in a virtual set – up, where we can switch off our Video and connect a story with audio mode alone as an ice-breaker. At times putting few PPTs/videos also helps in connecting)
Pausing here and soon I will be back with the next post on Illustrating Stories.
The little neurons in my mind have been asking such questions and here am starting a series to write a series on, ‘Storytelling.’ I have always wondered why am drawn towards this domain. It all started when I had a tiff with my Coach and Mentor when he mentioned, why I am telling stories and why I am not sharing the facts instead? This thought irked me and it slapped each and every cell in my body and shook the DNA, in fact, I felt that my DNA lost its helix structure and it uncoiled itself to a flat lifeless string. I picked on a one-on-one with my Mentor, Mr.Ramesh Prasad, NLP Trainer-Onefluencer https://onefluencer.com/ , and asked him, “What is wrong with me or for that fact if anyone shares stories?” Well, there was a silence and then this silence opened a space in my mind to create a page 3 years back and today a series called, ‘Stories in Oasis.” Stories in Oasis is all about Stories and what it means to me.
Stories have been flowing for generations and ages just like a river to meet its Ocean. In this series, basis my understanding and experiences of experiencing and learning, I would be quilling few weaves starting with the structure of storytelling, what stories mean to me, how I relate with the same. There is no right or wrong and there is no exact or rigid structure. Just like a river that doesn’t have an exact structure but it does have a pattern and how it breaks the same as well, stories travel a path in a pattern which is not only about leaving a message called, ‘Moral of the story,’ but on what makes the flow beautiful, interesting and how it makes us wondering and seated till the end showcasing the outcome!
What and all get’s into the structure, is it the Root, Trunk, and the branches or loads more to the Tree of Storytelling?
Will be back with the next story soon!
And Mayaakatha is planning more.
Yes, loads more in the kitty, we had Poetry connect for April month, a mixed bag of stories for May and now we are featuring Healing stories as a part of #
And for July 2021, we plan to feature Lockdown-melodies. A date with the Vessels, a medley with the laundry clothes, or a break-dance with the broom and mop stick. You heard it right, tickle all your neurons, and allow your DNA to weave some personal stories or the one you enjoyed listening to, with due courtesy to the story owner.
Here’s a story about the King who was gifted two Falcons, One flew higher and higher and what happens to the second one?
How about grabbing a listen to know on what happens next?
This story I enjoyed listening and heard in one of the stories shared by #GaurGopalDas in #YouTube.
Every story heals and what we experience when the healing happens, is what I felt in this story.
As you listen, how about sharing your experiences in the comments.
